Since 2014, Nacho has directed, together with Marko Brajovic, the AA Visiting School Amazon, a programme that organises short courses in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. The course takes place in the shores of beautiful Mamori Lake and happens once a year. The curriculum explores biomimetics as a design methodology to propose resilient architectural designs that are highly adapted to tropical environments and mitigate the consequences of climate change. Students are introduced to biological and material systems while immersing themselves in the rich natural rainforest environment, collaborating closely with the local community.
